My love letter!

Dear Mr. Jobs & Mr. Fadell, Please let me express the complete love and joy that I've found in a little white & silver device that weighs less than 5 ounces and has 30GB of memory!! My new iPod has brought such happiness to my life...it has filled a void that I didn't even know was there! Between the iTunes I have at work and at home, my iPod and little teeny earphones, and the FM transmitter that I have for the car, I am now free to JAM at any given moment, no matter where I am and no matter what kind of mood I'm in!! Thank you gentlemen for this wonderful invention! Mr. Fadell, I believe you were one of the first people on the iPod team and for you and your team, I thank the Heavens above!! Because of the iPod, I can listen to the Ying Yang twins and then follow it up with a Jill Scott song and then follow THAT up with a Shekinah Glory song!! Oh the wonder! Oh the thrill!! My life--though this may be a SAD revelation--is now complete!! Sincerely, Your most appreci...

The Real McCoy

(I started this forever ago! How about if I ACTUALLY post it!) You know what, lately, I've been having lots of discussions that have caused me to realize that I have a new outlook on relationships! Well, more like a new way of thinking when it comes to how I'll enter my next relationship! What is this great, deep & wondrous revelation you ask? Well, simply that I've decided that I'm going to be ME! This revelation came from a number of different places: talking to one of my dance ministry sisters, a comment from my friend Anita, a blog posting from my fellow TRINITY sista and talking to my sister today! So, yeah, onto the revelation! For the next guy who I enter a relationship with, he's going to get the REAL DEAL! He's going to get the sarcastic, loves to eat, LOVES God AND secular music, say what I feel, size 16 with no plans to become a size 1, checks my email CONSTANTLY during the day and would rather text message than talk on my cell Tonyette ! So, Peac...

No gum at work!!

You know what? I realized that I don't chew gum often at work! And just now, I figured out why: I like to "crack" and "pop" my gum a lot! So, I have on headphones right now, jamming to iTunes as I do my work...and I just popped my gum in so loud that I heard it OVER my music! Um, to myself I say NO MA'AM! Wow!! And this is why I need to not chew gum at work!

LOVE!

Wow, I'm listening to my iTunes here at work...as I do often so as NOT to go insane and "Make Me Whole" by Amel Larrieux just went off! I absolutely LOVE that song and have decided that it will be played on my wedding day, at some point in the day! That song is really how I WANT to feel when I fall in love! WOW!

Happy Birthday to ME!!

YAY, it's my birthday !! I'm so happy! I'm 27, today!! I'm so blessed to have seen another year pass and I've come through it with a smile on my face and joy in my heart DESPITE all the things that have transpired in the last 365 days! Lord, thank You for giving me one more year of Your grace & mercy!! I've been having a good time and celebrating since Friday! And MAY the party continue! The BEST part of having July 3 as a birthday: knowing that somewhere near it--usually the day after--there is a day OFF work!! Yes! Here's what I've been doing in honor of the big 2-7! Friday , I was actually celebrating the birthday of my friend Toya! (if you read this, Mrs Marshall, Crystal and I had a GREAT time! Thank you for letting us join in your fun! Lucy was FANTASTIC! And did I tell you that Crystal cried! LOL! She says she doesn't know why, but I think it was the dancing!!) We went to this Egyptian-themed (and owned, if I'm not mistaken) coffeehous...

Repeat Performance

Ok, so I was reading one of the entertainment blogs that I read daily and one of the young ladies was commenting on Jennifer Freeman. In case you are like WHO, she's the cute young lady from My Wife and Kids and You Got Served . The blogger was basically joking Jennifer for wearing the same belt and shoes to three different events this month! I was like, so WHAT'S the problem? Because she's a celebrity, she's supposed to buy, or be given, accessories to wear once and then be tossed into the closet? Just because she's being photographed and in the public eye does that mean she can't have a "shoe of the month" and a "belt of the season"? I mean, I know that when I get something I love...like this purse I got for Christmas...I'll "wear it out" until I get tired of it! I mean, literally SINCE Christmas day...except for like 5 or 6 days...I've been carrying that same purse. It's gold and big and has various zippers and rhine...

Sex change!

It's official...I'm turning into *LOUD GASP* a girl! LOL! Of course I am anatomically a woman...so this shouldn't be headline news or anything! But yeah, it seems that I'm getting softer and softer and *DEEP BREATH* I wore a dress to church! Now, why is this a big deal...because I honestly don't know when the last time I wore a dress was. Wait, maybe I do; maybe it was last summer! And people, I wore a SUNDRESS with a shrug over it, but a SUNDRESS and heels! Sure, I've worn skirts to church aplenty but it's not often than one can say, "Tonyette looked so pretty in her dress today!" when leaving STCF!! And today I wore a skirt to work! *Oh my! Ooh!* I rarely do that because I just don't really see the point! I wore all kinds of jewelry and whatnot and look pretty cute! And I've just been emotional and softy and "feely" and whatnot...and it's NOT been bothering me. Yep, I'm just as shocked as you!

Heaven! (and Harmoni!)

I just finished eating a scoop of Baskin Robbins' Chocolate Almond ice cream that I bought at lunchtime and stored in the freezer here at work...ok, so it was RIGHT after doing my afternoon walk! But I felt like it was my reward for really pushing myself with the walking today! The ice cream was so good...and I'm sitting here listening to iTunes! Life is so good!!!! God just provides us with the smallest joys and they mean so much!! Oooh and I saw my cutie baby cousin Harmoni, and my aunt Net (her grandmother/my mother's sister) today in the mall! What a fantastic unexpected surprise! Harmoni, who has been 1-- for about 1 week--had her hair in some cute little braids with beads on the ends with her little bracelets, name (I think) earrings and necklace on, riding in a stroller that looked like a little car was so utterly cute!! She was just slobbering--I assume she's teething still--all over me and my keys, but she's so cute that I let her! And my aunt just looked c...

It's ONLY May!

I haven't posted in a little while! Ok, so today is May 31...which normally means (or at least I think it should mean) bringing out the white pants or capris, open-toed sandals and being glad that places like Rita's Italian Ice and Dairy Fresh exist for a little cool-down! But for some reason, it's more like break out the shorts (which I actually don't wear, so...), let's all go barefoot and go to Rita's for DINNER! Is anyone else bothered by how hot it's already been and it's not even summer yet! I cringe at the thought of what it'll be like on the weekend of my birthday (July 3) or the Sunday of our church picnic (usually 3rd Sunday in August!!) Oh gosh!! I shudder to think about it! Oh well, at least it's not winter, right? Trying to stay cool...

Ode to the late 80s/early 90s

(Toya, thanks for the inspiration!) This will be one of those long emails that will be divided up by sub-sections! Bobby & Whitney You know, one day I realized, RIGHT up until they got married, I used to love both Bobby Brown and Whitney Houston! Well, actually, I really liked Whitney up until "The Bodyguard". When she started winning all those awards, I felt like she got too arrogant and I didn't like it at all! Now, Bobby, WHOO, I used to LOVE him! In fact, a radio station was playing a bunch of his songs back-to-back and I was jamming as if it were 1989 or so, again! (Sheesh, I was YOUNG--about 10! This really concerns me, especially when I think about my strong love for songs like "Rock Wit'cha" and "Roni"!) I thought Bobby Brown was the MAN, with that Gumby haircut and his dancing. I was head over heels for him!! And I used to feel especially proud to know every word to all of his songs! I thought it made me a hardcore fan! Dancing in the ...

ALL DAY!

It's only 1:41 pm and I feel like I've done a FULL day of work...not because I've been particuarly busy but because I just didn't feel like being here anyway so, of course , the time is passing EVER so slowly! I really thought it was like 3 o'clock, but NOPE! Sheesh...oh 6pm, where are you?

Wreckless on the Road

So, I'm driving on 795 yesterday (headed towards Reisterstown for a tutoring session) and I'm looking around at all the other drivers. Now, I've heard those stories about people who drive on the highway and are putting on makeup and stuff like that...and I have put on lip gloss or something like that. But I was so AMAZED when I look to my right and there's a man driving and SHAVING!!! I mean, he had one of those electric (well, battery-run) shavers and was SHAVING as he drove along 795! Several questions came to mind!! 1) is this SAFE for him and for US...the other drivers on the road! 2) was he running THAT late??? Seriously, he felt that it was OK to leave the house with the thought "I can always just shave IN THE CAR?" Really? 3) isn't that NASTY? I mean, maybe he wasn't all that hairy, but still EWWW! This was just appalling to me!! Wow!

How the mind works!

I really appreciate clever things!! And quite honestly, I especially like it when I get it and most people don't! (Hey, it's my blog so I can say what I want! I can be as honest as I want!) There's an apartment complex off Liberty Road in Randallstown that's called Shakespeare Park. I ride past it often enough but never really noticed the name of the street that it's on. Well, this morning I rode by and noticed that it's on Anne Hathaway Drive. I was thinking to myself (becuase I didn't want my brother to think I was nuts, so I didn't say it out loud) "Cool! Anne Hathaway was Shakespeare's wife. How SLICK is that?" So, I thought that was all cute and clever! But it's so funny because I can't believe I remembered that. Like, when is the last time that I even read about Shakespeare's life? The mind is so funny because I have to STRAIN my brain to think of what I wore yesterday (oh, I remember, now ) but I remembered that William S...

Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder!

For those of you who read this and may not know me personally, I'm currently abstinent. (I guess that's how you say it!) Or maybe, I'm practicing abstinence. Whatever! Y'all know what I mean; I'm not presently sexually active! It's been years! I do it for many reasons and feel very proud! Yes, it can be difficult but it's a worthwhile commitment! I think the main question people ask is "Why?" Second-runner up question basically can be summed up as "how does that work?" (and THAT question comes in a VARIETY of ways!) So, today, I'm having a conversation with a co-worker who I consider a good friend. We ask each other pretty honest questions and whatever we were discussing led me to tell him about my "it's been years" thing! Well, AFTER I finally CONVINCED him that I was telling the truth, we had at least a half-hour or so conversation! And one of the most shocking things he said--because I've had this conversation wit...

Calling Shepherd Pratt

I talk to myself! Ok, I do! and I feel NO shame! And yes, I answer myself! And again, NO shame felt here! None ! People say that it's OK to talk to yourself as long as you don't answer yourself. To that I say, WHATEVER!! Because I do both and I don't think it's strange at all! But I DO think I'm bananas sometimes! Why? Well, let me give the background story. Where I work, my building, we have a contract cleaning crew that cleans all day. And I have deduced that the company that has the contract must only hire people with some type of disability, and that some of them must have mental disabilities. There's a few women that, when they clean the bathroom, they carry on full conversations with themselves! Now, I, of all people, should be understanding of this situation! But, NO! Most times, I end up saying "here we go again!" Or "She's about to get started!" Now the thing that makes me obviously crazy is that I'm commenting TO MYSELF usu...

I'm ___ years older than...

I drive my brother to work in the mornings (until he saves up for another car) and we pass Randallstown High School on the way. Well, I started looking at all the kids on the way to school. And it got me thinking...I'm at least NINE years older than the SENIORS! Sheesh! So, thinking about that made me think even harder. Now, by NO means do I think that, at 26 years old, I am old! I am just saying that time passed more QUICKLY than I realized! Therefore, here is a list I've come up with: I'm 5 years older than most COLLEGE seniors, I'm 9 years older than most HIGH SCHOOL seniors, I'm 13 years older than most EIGHTH graders, I'm 16 years older than most FIFTH graders, I'm 20 years older than most FIRST graders, and lastly I'm 22 years older than the average K-4 student! Wow! but the funny part is that I'm still only 26! So, life is good! (but it feels like I JUST learned to tie my shoes! What happened? Is this how life will be from now on? Just ZIPPING...

A wonderful change...

I was thinking recently and maybe, JUST maybe, I'm becoming more emotional and well, woman-like. See, women are generally more emotions-based and quicker to show feelings than men are. As I grew into adulthood, I was NOT known for being a "share my feelings...let's talk about it...let's all cry" kind of woman. In fact, the last time I'd cried outside of church in YEARS was probably at a funeral! In fact, I think that all of my parents (mom, dad & spouses) have all called me a "son" or referenced me as "un-emotional" at one time or another! But I realize that I've said "I'm having an emotional day" a LOT lately! In fact, I said it today (and I'm don't even have PMS) So, maybe I'm getting more in touch with my feminine side! I'm really rather excited about it...but PLEASE don't expect me to be all crying at commercials and that kind of crap! :--)

Don't be a menace...

This morning I was watching Menace II Society ..and I was thinking back to how FINE I thought Kaine aka Tyrin Turner was in those days! Whoo! And everyone I know thought he was fine..and those lips, yes indeed! But, like...where is HE these days? It's funny b/c he was the main character and Larenz Tate was the "sidekick"...but look at his career compared to Tyrin's. Oh well, maybe he (Tyrin) will be in something soon! (just checked www.imdb.com and YEP, he'll be in something SOON! LOL!) I wonder if he is still fine!

A winter wedding

Ok, so after having talked it over with my sister Tiff and my friend Aly, I have confirmed it, I will be getting married in winter! My reason for wanting to get married during one of the wintry months: so I can wear a fur muff and cape (yes, Tiff the cape is a new addition) with my dress! I thought this might be too shallow a reason to pick a season in which to get married, but they both were like WHATEVER! You can use whatever reason you want to pick the time! Mind you, I don't have a boyfriend YET...but a friend of mine told me that you should be as prepared as possible BEFORE you start "officially" planning b/c otherwise you get too stressed out! So...at least I have that detail figured out!!

Jams of Shame

Yes, ladies and gents...it IS that time again, where I 'fess up to songs that I like, but feel some kind of way about admitting that I like! 1) "SOS" by Rihanna--why so ashamed, you asked? B/c it's by RIHANNA! (who, by the way, I heard her say her name and she pronounces it as "ree-anna". Didn't know!) Um, but she's PRETTY wack so I feel kind of wack to like it! 2) "Check on It" by Beyonce--yes, Miss Overrated herself has made me a fan...of this song anyway! She's SO overrated that it's ACTUALLY sad but now when I hear this song, I actually find myself NOT turning the station. (And I have a secret crush on Slim Thug! Don't ask why, cause I don't know why!) 3) "Lean wit It, Rock wit It"--I think this one's actually ALMOST OK to like, but I still feel a little something when I do find myself in the car leaning and rocking with it!
